MACHINERY AT AMBEWELA FACTORY REMAIN IDLE FOR LACK OF LIQUID MILK

Machinery at Ambewela have to be kept in an idling position
Machinery at the MILCO’s Ambewela factory remains shut down for most of the day due to the shortage of liquid milk, says Chairman Lasantha Wickramasinghe, chairman of MILCO (Pvt) Ltd.

The Chairman says that 100,000 litres of milk is required to operate the milk production machines under normal conditions. However, the prevailing condition has arisen due to the produce volume falling short of this requirement.

Therefore, these machinery at the dairy farm do not operate at least for 8 hours a day, he said.

Mr. Wickramasinghe said that a competition has arisen among local dairy companies due to the unlimited demand for milk.

As a result, their milk harvest is sold to companies in a manner that the dairy farmer can make more profit.
