Former President Maithripala Sirisena says that he has only three months left to pay the compensation related to the Easter attacks judgment.

Speaking at a gathering held in Baddegama area, the former President said that he is currently collecting as much money as possible from friends.

“During my tenure, when I won the trust of the world and established democracy and was in the process of making this a good country, the Easter attacks happened and destroyed everything” he said.

“I am now ordered to pay 100 million, I neither stole nor bombed. Nowadays I am collecting the money from friends who I know. If you can, give me whatever amount possible as 3 months have already passed from the 6 months time given to me” he further said

The former President went on to say that he does not know what decision the court will take regarding him if he is unable to pay the compensation amount within the stipulated time.
