Protester who scaled the Jethawanaramaya, arrested!
A man who had protested from the top of the ancient Jethawanaramaya stupa in Anuradhapura, has been arrested, police say.
The man, identified as one Amarasena Appuhamilage Mahinda Kumara, is a resident of the Wijayapura area in Anuradhapura and a security officer attached to the Central Cultural Fund, police add.
He has said that it was paramount that everyone worked together to salvage the country from the current crisis, regardless of political differences.
The chief incumbent of the Jethawanaramaya – Ven. Ihalahalmillewe Rathanapala Nayaka Thera had also been present and had advised the police not to hurt the protester.
