Suspect arrested for defrauding state bank of Rs. 68Mn
A woman who assisted in defrauding a state bank of Rs. 68,340,000 has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The police said that the suspect had defrauded the amount from a State bank in Kadwatha area via 48 personal loan files by posing as others and submitting fake documents to the bank.
However, a bank worker who took the initiative to commit the related financial fraud has passed away.
The woman arrested for aiding and abetting the crime has been identified as a retired assistant general manager who worked in the credit department of the bank concerned.
The arrested 62-year-old suspect, a resident of Kadawatha, was remanded until August 10th after being produced before the Fort Magistrate’s Court.
