Minimum bus fare likely to be upped to Rs. 16
It is reported that the Ministry of Transport has decided to increase the minimum bus fare to 16 rupees.
Accordingly, it has been decided to increase the minimum bus fare by Rs. 02.
State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama had stated yesterday that bus fares would be revised due to the increase in fuel prices and that the fares would be announced the day after tomorrow.Meanwhile, the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association states that the ‘Touch and Go’ card system will be introduced to local bus passengers next Wednesday.
Payments can be made through the cards and the buses will run without bus conductors.
