Police to use minimum force if protestors storm VVIP residences
Police and the Police STF are on the standby to face any violence which may arise during the massive public protest that is to be held at the Galle Face grounds today (09), the ‘Divaina’ reports.
Police from several divisions in the Western Province as well as the riot police have been deployed while the Army is also on standby if needed, it adds, citing sources from the police headquarters.
It further reports a senior police officer saying that no issue will be raised if the protest is peaceful. However, if they attempt to storm the Presidential secretariat or any VVIP residences, minimum force will be used to stop it, he has added.
