LPL auction: More details released

Renowned Indian commentator, compere and quizmaster, Charu Sharma has been roped in as an auctioneer for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) set to be held next week.

Senior SLC official told NewsWire that Charu Sharma will be part of the inaugural player auction of the LPL scheduled for June 14, 2023.

Charu Sharma was the SOS auctioneer at the 2022 Indian Premier League auction (IPL), and he is also popular for his television presentations (especially on cricket), as well as for hosting award shows and corporate events.

The inaugural player auction of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be conducted on June 14, 2023, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced.

According to an SLC statement, the much-awaited auction will take place at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo.

This is the first time the tournament, which is Sri Lanka’s topmost domestic T20 league with an international flavour, is conducting a player auction.

The SLC stated that each franchise team will bring in a sum of US$ 500,000 for the auction to bid for players, thus totalling up to an overall sum of US$ 2.5 million from all five teams.
