MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF GIANT TUSKER BHARANA

Tusker Bharana found dead mysteriously

Tusker Bharana, was one of the few remaining giant tuskers and immensely popular among tourists at theKalawewa National Park, has been found dead.

The carcass of the tusker was found in the National Namal Uyana forest reserve in Galkiriagama by the Galkiriyagama wildlife officers.

Wildlife officials suspected that the tusker might have died this morning, and the cause of the death is yet to be revealed.Preliminary investigations were conducted by the officers of Galkiriagama Wildlife Site Protection Office and Galkiriagama Police Station.

The iconic tusker, who had often roamed near the Kalawewa National Park and the National Namal Uyana, was nearly 35 years old and possessed a pair of tusks which was nearly four feet in length.
