Harsha re-appointed as CoPF Chairman
The Committee of Selection had nominated Members of Parliament to serve in the Committee on Public Finance and Dr. Harsha de Silva has been Re-appointed as the Chair to the Committee.
The Speaker of Parliament today (Feb. 09) announced to the House the MPs nominated to the Committee on Public Finance.
Accordingly, Shehan Semasinghe, Dr. Mrs. Seetha Arambepola, Dr. Suren Raghavan, Anupa Pasqual, Johnston Fernando, Rauff Hakeem, Wajira Abeywardana, Vijitha Herath, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Duminda Dissanayake, Chandima Weerakkody, Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, Dr. Harsha de Silva, Nimal Lanza, M. A. Sumanthiran, Dr. Kavinda Heshan Jayawardhana, Mayantha Dissanayake, Harshana Rajakaruna, U. K. Sumith Udukumbura, Dr. Major Pradeep Undugoda, Isuru Dodangoda, Premnath C. Dolawatte, Madhura Withanage, M. W. D. Sahan Pradeep Withana have been nominated to serve in the Committee on Public Finance.

Maligakanda Chief Magistrate – Lochani Abeywickrama today (Feb. 09) fined Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo for serving white pepper to a patron which was found unfit for human consumption.
The hotel was fined Rs. 5,000 after its Food and Beverages manager appeared on behalf of the hotel had pleaded guilty.
The case was filed by the Colombo Central MoH after a patron at the hotel’s ‘The Dining Room’ restaurant had complained about being served a seasoning unfit for consumption.

Pathum Nissanka entered the cricket record books today (09) after becoming the first player from the nation to score a double century in One Day International (ODI) cricket.
The young opener smashed a magnificent 210* runs from just 139 balls to power Sri Lanka to a massive total of 381 runs in the first ODI against Afghanistan at the Pallekele stadium in Kandy.
Previously it was Sanath Jayasuriya who held the record of the highest ODI score at a match by a Sri Lankan after scoring 189 against India in 2000.
This historic feat puts Nissanka in an elite club of batsmen who have crossed the 200-run mark in ODIs such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma and Chris Gayle.
Several areas in Colombo will experience a water supply suspension tomorrow (Feb. 10) for 15 hours, the National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWSDB) says.
Accordingly, the water cut will take place from 5.00pm tomorrow until 08.00am on Sunday (Feb.11).
According to the NWSDB, Colombo 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 areas are supposed to be affected by the water cut, which is being imposed due to essential maintenance work planned under the Ambatale Water Supply System Improvements and Energy Saving Project.
