The April New Year festivities will be held in Nuwara Eliya this year as well, Minister of Wildlife and Forest Conservation C.B. Ratnayake said.
The Minister said the new year festivities will be held despite the various problems in the country.
Stating that the festival would include a series of funfairs, he said the Police have been directed to provide necessary security to foreign tourists who will be in the area at the time.
Minister Ratnayake made the statement when addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Nuwara Eliya Premier Cricket Tournament organized by the Nuwara Eliya Cricket Association yesterday.
