NUWAN THUSHARA ADDED HE WANTED TO GIVE HIS BEST FOR THE TEAM

I wanted to give my best for the team, says Nuwan Thushara

I always played for the  team and wanted to win the game more than my personal achievements said Sri Lanka’s most successful paceman so far in this T-20 World Cup Nuwan Thushara.

I got more lessons from IPL tournament before this T-20 World Cup while the wickets here in T-20 World Cup and IPL are different said Sri Lankan paceman Nuwan Thushara who took 4 for 18 in his four spell against   Bangladesh  at Dallas.  how to bowl under pressure and how to cope with pitches  favouing batting  are  lessons learnt from IPL  and I wanted to do my best for the team said Nuwan

I think at IPL wickets more suitable for batsmen and they scored heavily  on those wickets. But here in USA the wicket is difficult to bat and sometimes ball is coming  in different ways to the bat low bounce and sometimes extra  bounce. However ,batsmen had to face more difficulties said  Thushara.

Sri Lanka was short of another 20 runs and this was the main failure of Sri Lanka’s unexpected defeat by  Bangladesh said Sri Lanka team manager Mahinda Halangoda after the second world cup T-20 match at Dallas on Friday.

I can’t comment on team selections that is done by selection committee, but I must say this same batsmen played on previous tour of Bangladesh they were able to beat this same opponent. I think our batters have to adjust to these wickets and they should  be able to make  challenging total to give more confidence for the bowlers. I understand  we have batting failure said team manager.

He also said not adopting to the conditions is not an excuse for us. We tried to get training but it was in vain as wickets we had not good while we tried to get good practice through USA cricket Association but grounds fully booked. We  know all cricket fans are disappointed about our performance and our team also bit worried about that and we hope they will fare better in next  two games said   Mahinda Halangoda.

Sri Lanka cricket made all arrangements to get early training two weeks before T-20 World Cup while players had  to adjust to the wickets and no excuse as they are professional players said cricket expert.

All teams have some issues but after defeats excuses should not be given and players have to take responsibility. If players couldn’t adopt  to the conditions  Selectors  or  cricket administrators can’t  be blamed. They went for the T-20  World Cup and they have to realize this is T-20 format and mistakes always bring bad results said a cricket expert.
