The Sri Lanka Veterinary Association (SLVA) has requested Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera to assign veterinarians working in areas where there is no requirement, to the areas with requirement.
The SLVA has informed the Minister that due to the deployment of veterinary officers even in areas where there is no urgent need for government veterinarians, it has become difficult to provide their services to many areas where there is a need.
The association also pointed out that some areas of the Western Province do not need the services of government veterinarians.
Accordingly, Minister Amaraweera has instructed Ministry Secretary Gunadasa Samarasinghe to take steps to transfer such veterinarians.
