3 suspects arrested so far – Vijitha
Three suspects have been arrested so far over the security threats to Israeli nationals in the Arugam Bay area, Public Security Minister Vijitha Herath said.
Speaking at a media briefing held today (Oct. 24) afternoon, the minister said that all three suspects, who are Sri Lankans, are currently being questioned.
“We didn’t inform the public until the information was confirmed, but we took security measures as soon as the information was received,” he added.
He said that further details about the suspects cannot be disclosed to the public, as doing so could hinder investigations.
The minister also assured that all comprehensive security measures are in place and normalcy will be restored in a few days allowing travel advisories issued by several countries to be lifted.
