UAE deports Sri Lankans over cybercrimes and prostitution
Eleven Sri Lankans deported from the UAE for cybercrimes arrived in the country this morning, as reported by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE).
On July 01, Khaleej Times detailed a large crackdown in Dubai, which entrapped thousands, including many South Asians and Africans.
Among the arrestees were 37 Sri Lankans, detained for cybercrimes and prostitution.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in the UAE confirmed the remaining 26 will be deported within two weeks, with further investigations by the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau upon their return.
