President leaves for Switzerland on official visit
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has left the island for Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum.
The Head of State departed the island early this morning (Jan.13) for a 12-day stay in the Swiss town of Davos where the event is taking place.
During a session in Parliament, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the Leader of the Jathika Jana Balavegaya, expressed concerns about the frequency of foreign trips undertaken by President Ranil Wickremesinghe. According to Dissanayake, Mr. Wickremesinghe has participated in 14 foreign trips within the span of 14 months.
He also alleged that the President has asked for 200 million for foreign trips.
