The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has issued a special notice to the Depositors of Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (SFSP) pertaining to the payment of compensation under the Sri Lanka Deposit Insurance and Liquidity Support Scheme.
The CBSL informed eligible depositors/relevant legal beneficiaries of eligible depositors of the SFSP that the payment of compensation under the Sri Lanka Deposit Insurance and Liquidity Support Scheme will recommence from 09th June 2023 and is expected to continue until 12th July 2024.
However, in the case of the appointment of a liquidator prior to 12th July 2024, by a competent court in respect of the liquidation of Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC, compensation payment under the support scheme will be immediately discontinued, it added.
The CBSL further stated that accordingly, the eligible depositors/relevant legal beneficiaries of eligible depositors who have not yet obtained compensation subject to a maximum of Rs.1,100,000/= can obtain their claims from any branch of the People’s Bank commencing from 09th June 2023 by producing relevant documents.
