Two gas ships will be paid tomorrow – Litro Chairman
A payment of $ 7 million is expected to be paid for two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) ships next Monday, Engineer Vijitha Herath, Chairman, Litro Gas Company said.
After the two ships are unloaded, the gas consignment sufficient for two weeks will be available in the country, the Chairman said.
Herath said Litro Gas currently has enough gas for six days and will supply 80,000 cylinders to the market from today.
He said that out of the 80,000 cylinders, 50,000 would be supplied to the Colombo and Gampaha districts as the parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has instructed and the remaining 30,000 cylinders would be distributed to other areas.However, Litro Chairman Vijitha Herath says that the number of gas cylinders released to the market today will be reduced. Accordingly, 60,540 12.5- kg cylinders are expected to be released to the market today.
