Special notice from Police for vehicles entering Colombo

The Sri Lanka Police today (08) initiated a new operation within the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) city limits to tow away vehicles that are parked on the pavements causing traffic congestion.

The Police said the laws will be strictly implemented against vehicles that are parked unnecessarily on the pavements.

They further explained that the parking of vehicles on pavements was against the National Thoroughfares Act.

Legal action will be taken against vehicles that are parked on the pavement inconveniencing the pedestrians.

If the driver of the vehicle is found nearby or inside the vehicle then he/ she will be severely warned in this regard, the Police added.

They further said that in the event the driver is not found, then the Police will take measures to tow away the vehicle.
