Political leaders vote
Many political leaders were seen voting at the 2024 General Election held today (Nov. 14).
Voting concluded at 4.00pm with a voter turnout of around 55% – 65% in several districts, according to returning officers.
However, voting remained largely peaceful according to the police.
Addressing a media briefing this evening, Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa stated that the 2024 parliamentary election has been peaceful to a large extent, with no election-related violence reported so far.
However, he noted that three individuals involved in illegal election campaigning activities were arrested today.
