Gen. Election : Transporting ballot boxes & officials begin
The transportation of ballot boxes and election officials for the 2024 general election will begin this morning.
Commissioner General of Elections, Saman Sri Ratnayake, announced that the process will take place at 49 centers for 13,314 polling stations.
Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa confirmed that special security measures are in place to safeguard the transportation process.
A total of 8,352 candidates will be contesting, including 5,006 from political parties and 3,346 independent candidates.
The election will take place tomorrow, November 14, with 17,140,354 eligible voters. Voting will begin at 7 am.
