Soil hurled at PM’s banner and burnt
Police had stopped a bus carrying relatives of disappeared persons in the Northern region, near the Amman temple in Mattuvil yesterday (20), preventing them from getting off the bus, JDS reports.
They had been on their way to demand justice from Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is on a two-day visit to Jaffna.
In protest, relatives of the disappeared were later seen hurling soil at a banner featuring the President and PM before tearing it down and setting it on fire.
