Parliament to open Public Gallery from tomorrow

The restrictions imposed on the public to visit Parliament would be relaxed from tomorrow (20), Sergeant-at-arms Narendra Fernando said.

He said the Public Gallery of Parliament will be opened to the public from tomorrow.

Accordingly, the people are allowed to visit Parliament from 09.30 am to 03.00 pm on the days where there are no sessions.

During the Committee on Parliamentary Business or the Party Leaders meeting, the Sergeant-at-arms had informed the need to relax the restrictions imposed on the people to visit Parliament due to Covid-19 pandemic and security reasons.

According to the Communication Department of Parliament, the school authorities can apply online through the website www.parliament.lk or send a fax to the numbers 011 2 777 473 or 335 to make an appointment.Mr. Fernando said university students, government registered higher educational institutions and foreign tourists can also visit parliament in the same manner.
