PUBLIC SECURITY MINISTRY REQUESTS SERVICES TO CONTINUE INSTRUCTED TO ALLOW NORMAL LIFE FOR PUBLIC

Security beefed up in Fort ; Public Security ministry asks services to continue

The Ministry of Public Security has requested the Police to ensure that public life is maintained as normal during protests.

Accordingly, the minister has requested for services to be maintained, for ambulances carrying patients, school vans, office services, export zone workers, essential goods and services transportation and vehicles used by tourists to be allowed to proceed without any hindrances during the protests and demonstrations.

Security was beefed up in the Colombo Fort area today (24), with police barricading off all roads leading to the Presidential secretariat.

The measures come as the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) commenced a protest march from Colombo Fort railway station earlier today.

Police have reportedly put up a Court order at the Galle Face Green where protests have been staged against the public demonstration.
