State Minister for Home Affairs Ashoka Priyantha announced that the Grama Niladhari Service Constitution has been approved by the Public Service Commission, following the approval of the Cabinet

State Minister Priyantha disclosed these details during a press briefing at the Presidential Media Centre.

“Despite the initial inability to recruit for public service, we managed to appoint GN officers for 1,942 Grama Niladhari Divisions, and their training is currently underway,” the Minister said.

Persistent issues with the Grama Niladhari Service Constitution, will be addressed with the newly proposed service Constitution which has received the endorsement of both the Public Service Commission and the Cabinet Ministers.

Provisions have been made to amend this Constitution if necessary, the Minister added
