RAILWAY EMPLOYEES WHO OPPOSE REVISION OF FARES TO BE DISCIPLINARILY DEALT WITH

Disciplinary action against Railway employees opposing fare revision

General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways – Dhammika Jayasundara has said disciplinary action will be taken against employees opposing the railway fare revision which will be effective from today (23).

Accordingly , the minimum train fare was increased from Rs.10 to Rs.20 as of midnight yesterday.

The revised fares are to be displayed at every railway station from today.

However the Sri Lanka Station Master Association had earlier said that this move can only be implemented from Aug. 01.
