Showers to continue

The Department of Meteorology predicts that showers will continue (southwest quarter) during the next 24-hours due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of the island.

Showers are predicted at times in the Western, North-Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Heavy rainfall above 100mm can be expected at some places in these areas. Fairly heavy showers above 75mm can be expected elsewhere on the island.

Meanwhile, the highest rainfall since 8:30am today (12) has been reported from Avissawella recording 103.0mm.

Padukka recorded 83.0mm of rainfall while Warakapola in the Kegalle District recorded 60.5mm of rainfall.
