Power failures in several areas despite assurances

Despite repeated assurances by authorities, several areas have experienced power failures today (03) evening as well.

Earlier today, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka said that the Ceylon Electricity Board has not requested approval for scheduled power cuts.

The PUCSL had said that if such power cuts take place, the PUCSL will be forced to act based on the provisions of the Electricity Act.However, the Ceylon Electricity Board announced that power cuts are likely until 9:30 pm today, as several Power Plants have run out of fuel for power generation.
