RECOMMENDATIONS TABLED BY THE PSC TO IDENTIFY APPROPRIATE REFORMS OF ELECTION LAWS REACH AN AGRREMENT BY ALL POLITICAL PARTIES

Political parties reach an agreement

All political parties have reached an agreement to implement a majority of the recommendations tabled by the Parliament Select Committee to identify appropriate reforms of election laws and the electoral system.

The decision was reached during a discussion held today between party secretaries and the representatives of the Election Commission.

It was also agreed to adopt and implement the recommendations before holding the next election.

Among the recommendations are control ling election expenses, the provision of early voting, and the establishment of special polling centres, and strengthening female representation in public institutions.

One recommendation includes enforcing regulations for media during election periods.

Another proposal includes the validating the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission until the completion of elected terms.
