Rs.3,998 relief package containing 20 essential items introduced
The Ministry of Trade has decided to introduce a new relief package containing 20 essential items.
Speaking during a media briefing, Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardana said the public will be able to purchase the relief package which includes a wide range of essential items including 10kg Supiri samba, a kilogram each of white sugar and dhal, 500g of sprats and spices at a price of Rs.3,998 from today through Lanka Sathosa outlets.
Minister Gunawardana said the relief package is being introduced to mark the Thai Pongal festival and the new year.
The Minister said the same package will cost between Rs.5,771 and Rs.6,521 at supermarket chains.
He said the public can get the package delivered to their houses within 48 hours in areas where Sathosa outlets are unavailable by contacting 1998.
