Funds sought to pay SLRC salaries after digital revenue transferred to Derana

It is reported that the Ministry of Mass Media and Information is preparing to seek Rs. 240 million from the Treasury to cover salaries of 862 employees of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) and its overhead costs for a period of 06 months.

The state owned SLRC is seeking to obtain this amount, stating that their income levels have come down after they were forced to suspend several pre-planned programmes due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The SLRC requires Rs. 90 million per month to cover the salaries and allowances of its employees.
