SAJITH GETS THE NOD TO BE PM AS DULLAS IS INDISPOSED AND UNCONTACTABLE

Sajith as PM on Ranil’s request; Dullas indisposed & uncontactable

According to a request made by Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe, it is reported that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya is taking steps to nominate Sajith Premadasa as the Prime Minister of the all-party government.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Dr. Harsha De Silva said in a Twitter message that according to the request made by Wickremesinghe to the Speaker as Acting President, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya has decided to forward the name for the post of Prime Minister of the all-party government to the Speaker before 10 am tomorrow.

It further states that the opposition parties are holding talks with the government groups today in this regard.Harsha de Silva noted that the name will be referred in agreement with those groups.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had previously informed that he is ready to hand over responsibilities to that government as soon as there is an agreement to form an all-party government.

Further, during a discussion held between the Prime Minister and the Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s Office in Colombo on the 11th, the Cabinet Ministers decided that they are ready to step down from their positions if an all-party government is formed.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had announced to the party leaders on July 09 that he is ready to resign from the post of Prime Minister and give power to an all-party government.

Independent group on the fence
Meanwhile, the Leader reported that the independent group of parliamentarians are still undecided as to who they will support at the vote to appoint a president on the 20th.

However, a spokesman for the group said that they would extend their support to a leader who could establish peace and order in the country in the face of this crisis and establish a democratic rule.

The independent group consists of 16 parliamentarians representing 11 political parties.

Dullas down with feverIn addition, Parliamentarian Dullas Alahapperuma who was tipped to be a candidate in the running for the post of president on the 20th of July is reportedly down with the viral flu and is under treatment.

Under medical advice, Alahapperuma has deactivated his mobile phone at present, it is reported.His whole family is said to be infected with the viral fever.

However, he had said that he will not in any way, support Sujith Premadasa for presidency.
