Jetstar Asia commences scheduled flights between Sri Lanka & Singapore
Singapore’s Jetstar Asia commenced scheduled flight operations between Sri Lanka and Singapore today (21 Nov) with five return flights each week, operated by their fleet of Airbus A320s.
According to the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL), the inaugural Jet Star flight arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake at 10.30 am with 179 passengers.
The inaugural flight was ceremonially welcomed with a water salute by the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited.
Further, passengers were warmly welcomed by a traditional Kandyan dance performance sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and presented with tea gift packs sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Harsha Abeywickrema, Chairman of AASL, stated: “The launch of Jetstar Asia’s scheduled flights between Singapore and Sri Lanka is a significant boost for our tourism sector’s ongoing growth.
