Several persons including children swept away by floods
Eight persons including children have been swept away in the floodwater after the tractor they had been travelling in, had overturned in the Kaarativu road in Ampara today (Nov. 26).
According to reports, 02 children have been rescued and are receiving medical attention.
The children, aged between 12 and 16 years, were returning from attending a Madrasa school in Nintavur.
Authorities are conducting an intensive search operation in the area.
Many areas in Sri Lanka are currently experiencing heavy rainfall and officials have urged the public to avoid traveling in hazardous conditions.
