Ravi’s appointment was approved by NDP ExCo – Shirmila
Secretary of the New Democratic Front (NDF), Attorney-at-Law Sharmila Perera says that Ravi Karunanayake’s appointment to the National List is a decision made in accordance with the agreement reached with allied parties of the NDF, ‘newsifrst.lk’ reports.
Issuing a statement, she pointed out that the appointment was unanimously approved by the party’s Executive Committee, which convened on Nov. 17.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the NDF has decided to conduct an independent inquiry into the appointment of Ravi Karunanayake as an MP from the National List of the alliance.
Accordingly, the four-member committee appointed today (Nov. 20) under the patronage of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe includes : Attorney-at-Law Kumar Dunusinghe, Attorney-at-Law Indika Weragoda, Dr. Vithanage and Attorney-at-Law Yasas de Silva.
The final report of the inquiry is to be handed over to Mr. Wickremesinghe within a period of 03 weeks, which will be later forwarded to the ExCo of the UNP, reports add.
