SIXTEEN HEALTH TRADE UNIONS CALL OFF STRIKE TEMPORARILY FOR TWO WEEKS

Health unions decide to temporarily call off strike

The trade union action launched by 16 trade unions attached to the health sector has been temporarily called off after nine days.

However, Ravi Kumudesh, President of Federation of Health Professionals said the strike was called off temporarily for two weeks until they will be assured of President’s intervention to resolve the issues.

He said Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has been distorting discussed matters before media, which dragged the issue for so long.

“We don’t hesitate to get on with the strike at any point, if the President fails to provide us with concrete solutions to our grievances,” he added.
