The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) says that nominations are being called for candidates who wish to contest the upcoming Local Government polls.
The SLPP says that in addition to SLPPers currently serving in LG bodies, they hope to give priority to new candidates, youth, social leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs and that the qualifications of the candidates will be tested to match the modern political culture in accordance with the current political situation.
The Elections Commission has announced that notice will be issued by the last week of December to call for nominations for Local Government elections.
