12 SLPP leaders ready to back Ranil!
Twelve district leaders of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna have decided to back President Ranil Wickremesinghe if another is named as the party’s Presidential candidate, reports the “Aruna” newspaper.
The decision had been taken during a special discussion held on July 22 at a state minister’s house located at Malalasekara Mawatha, Colombo.
It is reported that the 12 district leaders are backed by nearly 75 SLPP MPs.
According to the newspaper, it is further reported that they had decided to organise the election campaign of Mr. Wickremesinghe, with the backing of district MPs and heads of LG institutions.
