Interim order against SLRC & chairman over transferring YouTube management to Derana
The Colombo Appeal Court today (22) issued an interim order against the state owned Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) and its chairman – Sonala Gunawardena.
The order was issued against the transferring of the SLRC’s YouTube management to IdeaHell after arbitrarily removing Vishmitha Enterprises, the company that had previously handled the task.
Vishmitha and SLRC had signed an agreement on Nov. 15, 2021 and the interim order prevents SLRC from obtaining services that come under this agreement, from elsewhere.
The SLRC had recently signed an agreement with IdeaHell to manage its YouTube operations.
The decision was taken by the current chairman of the SLRC – Sonala Gunawardena, who was appointed by the President, and the agreement was signed before the elapse of two weeks since his appointment, and was done overlooking the usual procurement procedure followed by state owned institutions.
According to the agreement, the income from the SLRC’s YouTube channel has been transferred into IdeaHell’s account.
IdeaHell comes under ‘Derana Macroentertainment’, which is owned by Dilith Jayaweera and Aruni Amunugama’s ‘Power House’.
