Pathirage denies Softlogic will purchase Channel EYE
Softlogic Chairman and Managing Director (SriLankan Airlines Chairman) Ashoka Pathirage has denied claims that the Channel Eye channel owned by the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) is to be leased to Softlogic.
Upon being contacted by ‘Sri Lanka Mirror’, Mr. Pathirage told us that it was a complete lie.
Media reports had suggested that Channel Eye will be leased to Soflogic for a monthly sum of Rs. 40 million.
According to reports, the package is to include not only the channel, but also its staff and one of the 03 studios owned by the SLRC.Reports also claim that the present SLRC chairman – Sonala Gunawardena is to resign after this deal.
The SLRC chairman is already in hot water after the Colombo Appeal Court issued an interim order on March 22 against him and the SLRC.
The order was issued against the transferring of the SLRC’s YouTube management to IdeaHell after arbitrarily removing Vishmitha Enterprises, the company that had previously handled the task.Vishmitha and SLRC had signed an agreement on Nov. 15, 2021 and the interim order prevents SLRC from obtaining services that come under this agreement, from elsewhere.
