SUPREME COURT DECIDES CASE AGAINST PRESIDENT CANNOT BE MAINTAINED

Case against President cannot be maintained: SC

The Supreme Court has decided that the proceedings against President Ranil Wickremesinghe who is named as a respondent in the Easter Sunday terror attacks, cannot be maintained.

The order has been issued by a seven-member Supreme Court Judge-Bench headed by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya.

Incumbent President Wickremesinghe was named as a respondent in the fundamental rights petitions which were filed over failing to take steps to prevent Easter Sunday terror attacks despite having received intelligence reports.
