Red alert from Met Department!
The Department of Meteorology has issued a red alert about the sea areas from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Due to the onset of the southwest monsoons, the wind speed may increase to 60 to 70 kilometers per hour in those sea areas from time to time, according to the announcement.
The alert states that the seas could get very rough at times and that the waves could rise to between 2.5 meters to 3.5 meters at times.
