THE INAUGURAL MELODIC EXPEDITION AT THE LIONEL WENDT ON JANUARY 07th 2023 “SANDA PAHAN RE” MIYESI SUYAMAYA
Dr Kanchamala Ranasinghe known as “Kanchi” to her colleagues in the medical profession, family, friends in addition to been a medical lecturer in Griffith University in Brisbane, is a private medical practitioner also possess multifaceted competences, skills, traits in many other fields. She has undeniably inherited genes via hereditary affinations from her parental duo Terrence and Malini Ranasinghe who were acclaimed dramatists in Professor Ediriweera Sarathchandra’s dramas , “Sinhabahu and ‘’Maname’ having portrayed the roles of “Potheguru” and “Suppadevi” in the former and ‘Maname’ Queen in the latter ,having graduated as scholars from the Peradeniya University .Kanchi perhaps has gone a step beyond completing the MBBS ,working as a clinical physician then further qualifying in post graduate medical studies from Brisbane universities to be one of the most qualified medical professionals at a very young age. Emulating her mother Kanchi in interaction with Lalitha Sarathchandra had shown her expertise to portray the character of a modern “Suppadevi” in the stage drama “Sinhabahu” which she had successfully depicted a few times travelling to Sri Lanka.
Kanchi had been a bright student throughout her career at school, nominated as school captain in year 1992 at Girl’s High School ,Kandy from where she has had her entire education having won many prizes simultaneously taking part actively in artistic activities, been an active member of the drama team in her alma mater, also she had also been involved in music, oratory, and sports was awarded the “Mallett” gold medal. She was also bestowed with the ‘best allrounder” award at the 1994 school prize giving. After her MBBS and becoming a clinical physician was awarded a scholarship to Brisbane for her PhD and higher medical credentials in year 2005. Kanchi had joined the academic staff of the school of medicine, University of Queensland teaching, taking part in the examination processes too until year 2012 while continuing her post graduate research. Kanchi still serves as a Clinical Examiner for the medical school at the University of Queensland.
Dr Kanchanamala (Kanchi) Ranasinghe possesses MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery),FACRRM (Fellowship of the Rural and Remote College of Medicine), FRACGP( Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of general Practitioners),FARGP ( Royal Australian College of General Physicians),EMC ,CWH , MPhil ( Master of Philosophy) and PHD ( Doctor of Philosophy, University of QLD ) which is the highest postgraduate achievement one could achieve. These qualifications Kanchi had obtained at a relatively young age and a brief period is now also a sought after specialised General Practitioner in QLD, where she works in a variety of subspecialties including Obstetrics, Rural and Remote Emergency Medicine and General Practice . Kanchi had thereafter worked at the Royal Children Hospital in Brisbane .
Synchronously Kanchi had focussed on her singing prowess had recorded many songs in videos too titled “Bandura Mal’, Hadakara Dangakara”,”Premaye Natabun”,”Sandapahan Delwu”,”Mal Kiniththak”,”Nubata Ehenne Nehe” “”Pathiniyak Wee”, etc.The lyrics are of famous lyricists like Bandula Nanayakkarawasam, Narada Wijesuriya, Jayamali Charitha Bandara,Nayanasena Wanniarachchi while music melodies have been made mostly by Nalaka Anjana Kumara and Dharshana Wickrematunga, while Nalaka Anjana Kumara duets with Kanchanamala. Her solo show with dance and vocals is to be held at the Lionel Wendt auditorium on the 7th January 2023 named “SANDA PAHAN RE”-Miyasi Suyamaya at 7 PM presented by Narada Wijesuriya.
