THEO-MILITARISM WITH IMPENDING CONFLICT
Theo-militarism refers to the existing political experimentation commenced by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa that blends Buddhist practices with military intimidation to remain in power. One intellectual had magnificently captioned it as “weaponizing Buddhism”. When the President after establishing his position with the 20th Amendment restricted his wistful “views of success and grandeur” with “virtuosity” and “discipline”, what he meant was Buddhist virtuosity to the barring of other religions and the fear of jackboot in the name of discipline to enforce compliance to this sans popular consent. As a result, Sri Lanka is in de facto Theo-militarism.
