“We don’t want to penalize anyone for not taking the vaccine”
Co-cabinet spokesman – Dr. Ramesh Pathirana says that the government does not wish to penalize anyone for not taking the vaccine.
He was responding to a question raised during the Cabinet briefing that the military in the East were checking vaccination cards.
Earlier this month, Health minister – Keheliya Rambukwella issued an Extraordinary Gazette preventing non-vaccinated people from entering or being in public places from April 30.
Responding to the question, Minister Pathirana said that “this is a precautionary method to ensure that all of them are vaccinated and that the prohibition will be towards entering the public places only.”
