Police have arrested 3 suspects for allegedly trying to rob a cab near Periyapalai Junction in Palai Police division in Kilinochchi on Friday (20).

The suspects have blocked the road and pulled out the driver and the passengers out of a cab and driven away the vehicle along with the three wheeler in which they have come for the robbery, the police said.

After being alerted, Police officers on duty at the Elephant Pass junction have ordered the fleeing robbers to stop. However, the suspects have continued to drive away ignoring police orders.

Police officers have then chased after the vehicles and managed to apprehend three suspects aged 24, 30 and 34. They are residents of Mankulam, Poovarasankulam, the police further said.

Palai Police are conducting further investigations.
