Three people from the same family have died after a three-wheeler collided with a Bolero cab in the Nugayaya area along the Wellawaya- Thanamalwila Road last night (04).

The Police stated that a 44-year-old Police Sergeant who had driven the three-wheeler, his 42-year-old wife, and his 70-year-old father had died in the accident.

Their 11-year-old child has been admitted to the Wellawaya Base Hospital with serious injuries.

Investigations have revealed that the driver of the Bolero cab had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident and had caused the accident due to reckless driving.

The driver of the Bolero cab has been identified as someone without a valid driving licence and has been arrested by the Police.
