Sports Minister seeks SLC’s support to develop other sports

Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage summoned officials of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to the Ministry of Sports yesterday (16) for a discussion on the current state of cricket in the country.

The meeting focused on plans to develop facilities required for cricket, strategies to enhance the sustainability of cricket stadiums, and ways to leverage cricket for promoting tourism.

Attention was also drawn to the existing challenges within the SLC system, with the Minister emphasizing the need for swift solutions to address these concerns.

Furthermore, discussions were held on obtaining SLC’s support to develop other sports in the country and introducing initiatives to promote school sports development alongside cricket.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Sports Minister Sugath Thilakaratne, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Eranga Gunasekara, and officials from Sri Lanka Cricket.
