TO MANUFACTURE RICE FLOUR TEN CONTAINERS OF IMPORTED RICE SOLD

10 containers of imported rice, sold to manufacture rice flour!

Sources in the Ministry of Trade say that rice stocks imported from India as a solution to the prevailing rice shortage, have been sold off to large-scale rice flour-related manufacturing companies, the ‘Aruna’ newspaper reports.

According to the news report, around 10 containers with a total of 250,000 kg of rice have been sold by private importers in this manner.

It is said that this is being done as there is not much profit from selling rice at the currently stipulated control price, after being taxed Rs. 65 per kilo when importing.

The Ministry of Trade has said that no action can be taken even if the importers arrange to send the stocks released from the Port to the rice flour-related manufacturing factories instead of sending them to the market to be sold as rice.
