Army officer who kicked civilian, relieved of all duties
The Officer who was seen kicking a citizen at the Yaggapitiya filling station has been relieved of all his duties with immediate effect.
The decision was reached by the Army Commander Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage until a five-member Court of Inquiry submits its recommendations over the incident.
A parallel military investigation of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Military Police is also underway while statements are being recorded.
The Security Force Headquarters-West yesterday appointed a five-member Court of Inquiry, headed by a Brigade Commander to investigate the incident and table recommendations.
