24 hr power cut in the offing?
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has agreed to provide 3000 MT of fuel to the two power generating units at the Kelanitissa Power Plant Complex which are currently inactive after running out of Diesel.
Andrew Nawamani, the Additional General Manager at the Ceylon Electricity Board had told media that the two power stations could be reactivated once the fuel stocks are provided this morning and the power supply could be restored if there are no issues with any other power stations connected to the National Grid.
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Electricity Board Employees Union has warned a 24-hour power cut may be imposed in the country in the near future.
Speaking to media, General Secretary of the Association Ranjan Jayalal claimed the country may have to close due to a power shortage in the near future.
